Our Organic Triphala Tablets contain low-temperature processed amla, haritaki, and bibhitaki, compressed into easy-to-digest pills. (The temperature is kept below 104°F at all times. This ensures that delicate nutrients are preserved during the entire process.)

Triphala, literally translated as "three fruits," is a traditional Ayurvedic formulation made up of three fruits native to the region. Triphala is often called the “nectar of life” for its cleansing, balancing, and healing properties in Ayurvedic medicine. The three fruits these pills contain are Amalaki (Emblica officinalis), Bibhitaki (Terminalia belerica), and Haritaki (Terminalia chebula). These fruits are dried and ground into a fine powder, creating a potent and versatile herbal supplement. We then take this powder and compress it into our Organic Triphala Tablets.

With a strong commitment to sustainability, we ethically grow and harvest our Amalaki, Bibhitaki, and Haritaki by partnering with small family farmers, aiming to preserve the communities and the long-term well-being of India's ecosystems and land.

Triphala in Ayurvedic Practice

Known for its balancing properties, triphala is believed to support overall well-being and foster regular, healthy, complete bowel movements. * It is made from three fruits:

  • Amalaki – The word "amla" translates to mean "sour." Amalaki has a naturally sour taste and supports digestion. *
  • Bibhitaki – In Sanskrit, Bibhitaki is known as “Vibheetaki,” in which "bheeta" means "fear" and "Vibheeta" means "lack of fear." The whole word “Vibheetaki” means the fruit that takes away the fear. It is known for supporting regular elimination and balancing mucus membranes.*
  • Haritaki – Haritaki has been regarded very highly from ancient times by traditional healers, and it is rightly called the mother of herbs. It supports gentle detoxification by improving digestive function. *

Each fruit in the Triphala powder supports the balance of the Ayurvedic doshas. Amalaki has a cooling effect that helps manage fiery pitta energy. Bibhitaki is good for kapha, which maintains the fluid balance in the body, so this is helpful to get things moving throughout the body. Haritaki has a heating nature and balances all three doshas, especially Vata.

In Ayurveda, triphala is considered tridoshic, meaning it helps balance all three doshas—Vata, Pitta, and Kapha—within the body. This makes it suitable for a wide range of individuals, regardless of their unique constitutions.

Originating from the Indian subcontinent, triphala's usage dates back thousands of years. Its formulation is documented in classical Ayurvedic texts such as the Charaka Samhita (~100 BCE) and Sushruta Samhita (~600 BCE), where it is praised for its balancing properties. Over centuries, triphala has remained a cornerstone of Ayurvedic medicine, valued not only for its potential health benefits but also for its adaptability in diverse Ayurvedic practices, ranging from dietary supplements to medicinal formulations.

Why Tablets Instead of Capsules?

One advantage of opting for herbal tablets rather than capsules is that tablets allow you to experience the herbs' taste. According to Ayurveda, digestion starts in the mouth with the sense of taste, and since the digestive fire, or agni, is essential for health, the quality of our digestion directly impacts our overall well-being.

Tasting your herbs, even briefly, enhances the interaction between your herbs and your body, fostering a deeper connection between the two.

These organic Triphala tablets are our way of making this valuable Ayurvedic supplement accessible, convenient, and easy to take.
