What is a yarrow flower?

Yarrow, or Achillea millefolium, is a plant that grows back every year. It is in the family Asteraceae. It is the most well-known species of the genus Achillea because it is used in both traditional and alternative medicine.  The achillea millefolium plant is native to temperate parts of the Northern Hemisphere, such as North America, Europe, and Asia. It has fern-like leaves and red, pink, salmon, yellow, and white flowers.  How tall does the yarrow plant get? The average height of a plant is between two and four feet. Usually, you'll see white yarrow and yellow yarrow in the wild.

How do I use yarrow flowers?

The astringent leaves, flowers, and piquant foliage impart an aromatic quality to salads. As a side dish, the leaves can be steamed and simmered in butter before being added to stews and sauces, or they can be utilized as a vegetable in nearly any dish. The blossoming tops may be utilized as a garnish or condiment on salads and dishes.

Where can I buy yarrow flowers?

Yarrow is used to treat fever, the common cold, hay fever, irregular menstrual periods, dysentery, diarrhea, loss of appetite, stomach pain, and to induce sweating. Some people who have toothaches chew on the fresh leaves.

◉ Wound Healing: Yarrow is called a "styptic," which means it is an herb that stops bleeding. Most of its ability to heal wounds comes from the alkaloid achilleine, which helps blood clotting and allows the wound to close quickly. A 1954 study found that just half a milligram of achilleine per kilogram of body weight can cut the time it takes for a wound to heal by 32%. To reduce the chance of getting an infection, yarrow makes the blood platelets in the affected area move around. This creates a protective layer that keeps bacteria that cause infections from getting into the body. It has strong antimicrobial properties that come from the terpenes in its essential oil. When this oil is put on a wound, it kills the bacteria. This herb can be used to treat minor cuts and burns because it naturally relieves pain and reduces inflammation. This procedure helps the skin heal while relieving pain and swelling.

◉ Improves Circulation: On the other hand, yarrow improves blood flow and circulation. It is known to make the capillaries bigger, which improves the blood flow. A healthy blood flow is important for the body's overall health because it makes sure that every part of the body gets enough blood and oxygen to work properly. Poor blood flow is a common problem that causes varicose veins. Yarrow is a beneficial herb that can help prevent or treat this painful condition. It does its job by getting rid of blood clots and tightening the vein walls with its astringent properties. Because of this, it can also help with more serious problems, like atherosclerosis.

◉ Digestive Health: Yarrow, which is a "bitter herb," is a beneficial digestive stimulant that helps the gallbladder make the right amount of bile. This helps digestion and can stop gallstones from forming. It also has the phytochemical azulene, which has anti-spasmodic properties and relaxes the muscles inside the stomach, making it useful for stomach cramps.  Because it can heal and strengthen the mucus membranes in the digestive tract, yarrow has long been used to treat stomach flu and other digestive problems. It can also get hydrochloric acid production back to normal. Low stomach acid is now known to be the cause of many digestive problems, like indigestion and heartburn.

◉ Women’s Herb: Yarrow is good for health in many ways, especially for women. It is especially good at either reducing a heavy flow of menstrual blood or stimulating the uterus to start a period. Yarrow helps tone the muscles and increase their activity in the uterus, which helps start the flow of menstruation. This herb is great for women who don't have their periods, which is called "amenorrhea." If you're using this herb to stop heavy bleeding, it's important to take care of what's causing it at the same time. Furthermore, because it relaxes muscles and reduces inflammation, it is beneficial for relieving menstrual cramps. In terms of fertility, the fact that it improves circulation means that the right amount of blood gets to the reproductive organs. This lessens the pain that conditions like PCOS and endometriosis cause by clearing up pelvic congestion
